Being safe in the garden
For all you green fingers out there, we all know that being safe is imperative, not only for your physique but your health too; in this blog we will talk about what to do in advance and during gardening.
Spring is the time of the year when injuries can happen when you do things incorrectly. It’s important to keep in mind what you do with your body while working with a shovel, wheelbarrow, rake, etc.
- Always plan ahead identify what you need such as any power tools, protective clothing, rakes, is the job too big for one person? Etc. Another thing you should do before hand is to check the weather and try to work during the coolest part of the day to prevent any dehydration. So make sure that you drink plenty of water and take short breaks.
- Maintain your physique, make sure that you keep your back straight, and bend your knees when your lifting anything heavy up, when picking up objects off the ground in the garden try to keep the object as close to your body as possible to avoid back pain and injuries. The closer to your body, the more stable and easier it is to control the object.
- Garden power tools tops the list of the most dangerous pieces of equipment, with more people being reported to hospital each year, to overcome this ever growing problem you can invest in protective clothing, making it that much safer in the garden.
