What to do with your lawn mower this Christmas
Now that Christmas is officially around the corner it is safe to say that you can put away your lawnmower in storage! In this blog we will be explaining how to correctly store your lawn mower over the icy nights.
Of course, before you store your lawn mower you MUST clean it thoroughly! You can do this with either a brush or hose. Remove any grass on your blades and make sure that there’s nothing in the cooling fins or exhaust. If anything is stuck in the blades of the lawn mower, you must never use your hands to free it.
If you have a gas-powered lawn mower make sure that you empty out the gas tank...
Leaving your oil in the mower over the winter period could turn the oil stale, so it’s best to use up whatever you have left in your tank or empty it if you leave oil in the tank it could cause problems for you in the future such as rust.
Remove the battery...
It is best to disconnect and remove the battery from your lawn mower when storing it this winter.
When you’re storing your battery give your battery a clean with a cloth and store the battery in a cool dry place.
Last step...
Just check to see that your blades are not damaged or any cracks so you are ready to use it in spring.
When these main jobs are complete make sure that you store your lawn mower in a dry, dust/frost free environment. Always make sure that your lawn mower in stored in the normal position and not propped up against anything.
When doing these changes it’s best to have your lawn mowers operator's manual on hand. If you need any help or advice about your lawn mower this Christmas please give us a ring on 0115 961 5431
